What we catch

Real flags from test scans, real dollar amounts.

Marked-up parts, padded fees, double-billed labor, and upsells dressed as maintenance. These came out of scans run through the live model.

Front brake pads & rotors (parts)$412.00typical $180–$280 · +$132

Standard aftermarket pads and rotors for a CR-V retail well under this. The parts line alone was priced like a dealer job.

Shop supplies fee$92.00typical $15–$40 · +$52

Supply fees should be a small flat charge or a few percent of labor. Above $50, or over 5% of the bill, it is padding.

Serpentine belt, billed on top of an alternator job$210.00typical $80–$150 · +$60

The belt has to come off to replace the alternator anyway. Charging full labor twice for the same teardown is double-billing.

Direct injection carbon cleaning service$168.83typical Usually unnecessary · Upsell

A chemical cleaner added to routine maintenance at 64k miles with no drivability symptoms. A classic dealer add-on.

Where our prices come from

Sourced ranges, not guesses.

The model checks each line against a reference table compiled from these sources before it is allowed to use its own judgment. Jobs outside the table are marked as estimates on the receipt. Nobody else in this space publishes where their numbers come from.
